German A0: All the German You Already Know

$397

with Michael Deas

Calendar Current session started Jun 2, 2026 at 9 am, runs for 10 weeks

COURSE DESCRIPTION

From the Instructor: The Alps, the Black Forest, the sausage links, and the beer are calling to you. Germany has that special something to offer ...but learning German looks about as fun as eating out of a concrete mixer. Relax! You know more of the Teutonic Tongue than you may realize. During this 10-week exposure course, you'll become familiar and comfortable with words, phrases, and concepts that right now look puzzling. German and English share common linguistic roots, similar grammatical structures, and even soundalike intonations. You'll be surprised to find out how much you already know—and how easy it is to learn more.

English C2: Idiomatic American Conversation

$408

with Michael Deas

Calendar Current session started Jun 16, 2026 at 1 pm, runs for 8 weeks

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Idiomatic American Conversation covers eight of the most prominent topics that can typically arise when talking with American friends, colleagues, guests, or networkers.

Based on a cultural linguistics model, this course crystallizes those elements of American English that are rooted in the history, culture, and ethos of the United States. These elements are often captured by the idiomatic expressions unique to American English.

By the end of this course, ESL students already fluent in English will deepen their vocabulary and vastly expand their ability to “think and speak American.” This will help them perform well in any conversational setting, including knowing how to inject humor, avoid pitfalls, and truly make American English their “other first” language.

Level C2: You are currently able to:

Understand almost everything read or heard easily.

Summarize information from many sources into a detailed presentation.

Express yourself using precise meaning in complex situations.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Notebook and pen
