Learning a new language is a known way to enhance your ability to multitask, improve memory and communication skills, and upgrade your professional skills. It is also a way to enhance your travel experiences, broaden your global perspective, and open doors to you all around the world – globalization, right? Join UI on this journey! Regular classes meet once a week for a total of 75 minutes. Intensive classes meet twice a week for a total of 90 minutes. Students MUST BE members of UI in order to take a language class. - Guide participants in using autobiographical writing as a therapeutic tool to narrate, explore, and reframe significant moments or stages of their lives.
- Spanish B2 level or above
- Brief theoretical introduction: Key concepts to contextualize each topic.
- Guided writing exercises: Activities to explore emotions, experiences, and reframing.
- Introspection dynamics: Techniques such as guided meditations and visualizations to connect with personal experiences.
- Writing and reflection circles: Group spaces where participants can share their texts and receive feedback and active listening.
- Introduction to Therapeutic Writing
- What is therapeutic writing, and its emotional benefits?
- The difference between writing to narrate and writing to heal.
- Initial exercises: emotional release through words.
- Autobiographical Writing Techniques
- How to structure a personal narrative: beginning, development, and conclusion.
- The importance of honesty and vulnerability in writing.
- Using metaphors and symbols to express deep emotions.
- Practical exercise: "The Map of My Story" (visualization and writing a life timeline).
- Exploring Personal Experience
- Identifying key moments: motherhood, parenting, or transformative stages.
- Reflecting on the emotions associated with these experiences.
- Practical exercise: "Letters to My Past Self" or "Letters to My Child."
- Reframing Personal History
- How to give new meaning to challenging experiences.
- Identifying lessons learned, growth, and strengths.
- Practical exercise: "Before and After" (revisiting an experience with a new perspective).
- Sharing the Narrative: From ‘I’ to ‘We’
- Benefits of sharing personal stories in a safe space.
