English C2: Idiomatic American Conversation
with Michael Deas
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Idiomatic American Conversation covers eight of the most prominent topics that can typically arise when talking with American friends, colleagues, guests, or networkers.
Based on a cultural linguistics model, this course crystallizes those elements of American English that are rooted in the history, culture, and ethos of the United States. These elements are often captured by the idiomatic expressions unique to American English.
By the end of this course, ESL students already fluent in English will deepen their vocabulary and vastly expand their ability to “think and speak American.” This will help them perform well in any conversational setting, including knowing how to inject humor, avoid pitfalls, and truly make American English their “other first” language.
