Learning a new language is a known way to enhance your ability to multitask, improve memory and communication skills, and upgrade your professional skills. It is also a way to enhance your travel experiences, broaden your global perspective, and open doors to you all around the world globalization, right?

Join UI on this journey! Regular classes meet once a week for a total of 75 minutes. Intensive classes meet twice a week for 75 minutes each session. Classes are online and in-person. Please read entire class listings for all details inlcuding start & end date, start time, meeting day, location, and instructor.

Students MUST BE members of UI in order to take a language class. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE unless cancelled by UI.

Class Details

• Level A0: You are currently:
  • Just starting to become familiar with the basics of language. 
  • Have minimal to no prior knowledge of the language.

• Semester Length: 15 weeks
• Materials Needed: Notebook/laptop, pen/pencil. 
• Attendance Policy: Email or text teacher.

• Level B1: You are currently able to:
  • Deal with most travel situations in areas where the language is spoken.
  • Fully understand conversation regarding family, work, school or leisure topics.
  • Create simple texts on topics of personal interest.
  • Describe experiences, events, dreams, and ambitions, as well as opinions or plans.

• Semester Length: 15 weeks
• No Class Date(s): March 16 – 20 (Spring Break)
• Materials Needed: Pen & paper
• Absence Policy: Email teacher

Level A2: You are currently able to:

• Understand expressions in common activities like shopping, family, work, etc.
• Communicate simple and direct phrases.
• Describe immediate needs.

Additional Class Details:

• Semester Length: 10 weeks

• Materials Needed: Just a pen.

Level B2: You are currently able to:

• Understand the main ideas of a complex text such as a writing piece related to their field.
• Unexpectedly interact easily in foreign language, without problems for the learner or the native speaker.
• Produce a detailed text on a wide range of subjects.

• Level C2: You are currently able to: 
  • Understand almost everything read or heard easily. 
  • Summarize information from many sources into a detailed presentation. -
  • Express yourself using precise meaning in complex situations.

Level B1: You are currently able to:

  • Understand and use very basic expressions for needs.
  • Introduce yourself and ask other questions about personal details.
  • Have a simple conversation if the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
